Wash And Fold

Great Tips for Perfect Laundry (part 1)

Laundry occasionally requires extra hassle. Trying to eliminate odors or stains can be challenging, but even so, neither of these nuisances have to cause a headache.
Here are some tips to help you with daily laundry:

Before putting the items into the washing machine, you should  remove pins or buckles, zippers, hooks etc. Do not button buttons, because it can stress them as well as the buttonholes.
Next, you should empty pockets and turn them inside out, tie sashes and strings to prevent tangling. Turn sweaters and cotton t-shirts inside out to prevent pilling. Also, put socks in a pillowcase or mesh bag so they don’t get separated.

  • Washing pillows and comforters

The cleaning of pillows in the washing machine is advisable every three to six months in order to remove bacteria and odors. You can launder comforters up to twice annually, because each washing strips feathers of their natural oils, which causes them to lose their loft.
You should dry both on the lowest heat setting to help evenly redistribute the feathers. Between washings you should air them out on a clothesline once or twice a year to keep them smelling fresh.
Of course, one of the best ways to treat your comforters and pillows is trusting them to a professional cleaning service.

  • Remove stains professionally

One of the best ways to remove a stain is to treat it before it sets. You should scoop up solids and blot liquids with a clean white cloth from the outside in. Treat them right before washing, and always make sure stains have been removed before putting any item into the dryer. Heat sets stains into fabric. In the case of leather it is a little more challenging, but still a little bit care and professional tips, everything will be solvable.
